The island’s Lime Kiln Point State Park is a popular viewing point; the site attracts more than 100,000 people each year hoping to glimpse the mighty orcas splashing in the waters. Besides being a source of information to the visiting public, the museum is also a reputable research facility.

San Juan Island also has many educational and cultural opportunities. Art enthusiasts will enjoy perusing the independent art galleries in Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. As well, the San Juan Community Theatre hosts a variety of dance, music and dramatic performances.
